The Future of Virtual Reality: Unlocking the Past

The conversation of Virtual Reality is exciting. The future holds ideas. But some ideas are closer to reality than we perceive. Virtual Reality is becoming that platform; a hallmark of imagination in technology space.

With the advancement of our current capabilities, VR is surpassing the popularized realm of gaming. It is allowing us to combine ideas with the very tools that construct the main facets of perception.

Does the prospect of experience change our ability to learn? Absolutely… and it is because Virtual Reality is changing what it means to experience. Imagine yourself back inside a classroom, learning about the history of World War 2, the discovery of profound medicine, the evolution of philosophies that changed the world. Then imagine you’re there; a first-person view. Why lecture history when you can watch it unfold in 3D before your very eyes? Once taking an hour to explain – these fragments of history will be experienced in minutes.

With the maturation of big data, storage has now become a staple of future trends. A course, a lesson, a transfer of knowledge can now be experienced in significantly shorter time. With our increasing capacity to store digital information, we can re-create entire sequences of time – replicated in virtual reality – literally in front of our very eyes. With enough VR data, sequential recording of time can extend into days, weeks, perhaps months of raw information in VR time-lapse. One could dare to say this progress, in its ideal state, may itself become a flirt or a tease into the realm of 4D data.

With our current technological trends, we have incorporated a VR headset with body trackers and gyroscopic calibrators. Tactile gloves and fully geared bodysuits will seem very possible. Beyond that, current work continues toward contact lenses with HD video playback and recording capabilities.

Our ability to immerse ourselves in VR is difficult to truly comprehend. There must be a positive, educational sense of responsibility towards content creation. The transfer of knowledge may become seamless. We may very well advance our education system beyond the industrialized roots of the majority of current curriculum.
